Successfully finishing a doctoral program requires the integration of a substantial and groundbreaking contribution that advances both professional practice and academic research. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Education and Innovation Pedagogy is the highest academic degree in the educational and pedagogical science system, and this program is particularly complete as it combines the capabilities of the highest Doctor of Education (Ed.D) program in practical education and the capabilities of the Ph.D in Education program.

With a research model, doctoral candidates engage in research from the beginning. They are trained and guided to focus on research skills applied in the field of education and educational management in two stages: (1) the learning stage of research subjects to orient research and understand scientific research methods in education, and (2) the research and thesis formation stage of the Ph.D in Education under the guidance of faculty.

As an accredited institution, Paris-U’s program is widely recognized by partner universities. In particular, Paris-U has collaborated with VERN’ University, one of Croatia’s premier universities, mutually recognizing graduation outcomes and granting degrees.

As a dual-qualification program, students will graduate simultaneously with two Doctoralal degrees:

  • Doctor of Education (EDD) from VERN’ University.
  • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Education Management and Innovation Pedagogy from Paris-U.

Dual Qualifications program:

The program is a collaborative effort between Paris-U and one of Croatia’s premier universities, VERN’ University, providing the opportunity to earn two distinct and independent degrees. Both Paris-U and VERN’ University boast notable accreditations, underscoring a high standard of education and ensuring recognition for graduates with a doctorate.

Paris-U achieved more than 3 independent accreditations:
  • Highest level accreditation (Premier Institution) from ASIC UK (Accreditation Service for International Schools, Universities, and Colleges);
  • Accreditation of the educational management system is fully compatible with the European Union’s higher education standards control system by the independent accreditation organization HEAD (Higher Education Accreditation Department);
  • Programmatic accreditation by the Ofqual UK.Gov awarding body OTHM;
  • CPD (Continuing Professional Development) UK accreditation ensures that the program meets the professional development training model and that the output of the programs achieves the competencies desired by the labor market;
  • Learning outcomes are recognized as compatible (mapping) with UK national occupational standards by Senior Leader Bureau United Kingdom.

The program is designed for both studying full-time on our campus in France and for international learners and busy people by embracing the Hybrid model, which combines live classes and local tutors (online). With the Hybrid learning model, students can study French and British programs and earn degrees as full-time students without living and working in France like our full-time students.

The Doctor of Philosophy in Education Dual Qualifications program (By Research) with VERN’ has a minimum duration of three years and a maximum of five years. In addition to completing the Ph.D dissertation, doctoral candidates receive guidance in publishing international papers in journal systems affiliated with ISI/SCOPUS. This dual emphasis ensures a comprehensive approach to academic and research excellence throughout the program.

Mandatory Units:

  • Course: Developing Research Capability (60 credits)
  • Activity: Present Research Proposal in the Colloquium
  • Course: Advanced Research Design and Methodologies (60 credits)

Doctor’s Dissertation Stage (120 credits):

  • Activity: Working with Research Supervisor for Dissertation
  • Activity: Present the research result in Colloquium
  • Activity: Defend the Dissertation

International Paper Submission Stage (60 credits):

  • Course: How to Publish the Academic Paper
  • Activity: Publish your research paper

Graduating from the Doctor of Philosophy in Education and Innovation Pedagogy Dual Qualifications program, the learner could: 

1. Develop research aligned with the context of the Education, Educational Management, Pedagogy, and innovative teaching and learning methods.

  • Assess the importance, practicality, and research feasibility of the Management and Administration research topic.
  • Develop and adjust the research purpose to align with the direction and research objectives and within the time constraints.
  • Analyze and evaluate various research options, making appropriate choices.

2. Possess the ability to gather, organize, and select relevant theoretical foundations for doctoral research.

  • Compile theoretical foundations related to research topics in education, educational management, pedagogy, and pedagogical innovation activities.
  • Categorize and form a theoretical structure to serve the research topics in the scientific field of educational management and specialized pedagogical groups.

3. The ability to design comprehensive research.

  • Review precedent studies and select relevant research to support the intended research.
  • Design research in line with research objectives, research questions, and the research timeframe.
  • Adjust the chosen research methods considering research ethics and feasibility.

4. The capability to formulate a research proposal and the completed research.

  • Formulate research questions and review theoretical foundations and research models.
  • Construct research following international standards by developing a complete Ph.D. thesis in the field of education and pedagogy.
  • Present research to the scientific council.
  • Possess the ability to defend and persuade.

Assessment and Confirmation of Academic Results:

All modules and doctoral dissertations in the DBA – PhD in Education Dual Qualifications program, which follows a research-oriented model, undergo evaluation by both Paris-U and VERN’ University, one of the leading institutions in Croatia.

Learners are required to demonstrate mastery of knowledge and the attainment of competencies as outlined in detail in the program’s syllabus. This rigorous evaluation process ensures that candidates meet the established standards and objectives of the program.

Entry requirements

To enroll the Doctor of Philosophy in Education Dual Qualifications program, the learner must possess one of the criteria below:

  • Learners must be over 24 years old.
  • Hold a Master’s degree from an accredited university or:
  • Possess a Level 7 Diploma according to the European Qualifications Framework.

In case of such degree from a non-recognized university, the student should have followed the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) policy of Paris-U. Additionally, degrees from fake universities or diploma mills will not be accepted.

Note: Paris-U reserves the highest decision-making power for admission, whether to accept or not, after a specific review of each candidate’s profile to ensure they can comprehend and gain benefits when participating.

English requirements

If a learner is not from a predominantly English-speaking country, they must prove English language proficiency with one of the following:

  • Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) level B2 or equivalent
  • Or A minimum TOEFL score of 101 or IELTS 6.5; Reading and Writing must be at 6.5 or equivalent

Completing the Dual degree Doctor of Business Administration in 17 majors programme, the student will receive two Doctoral degrees:

1. Doctor of Education from VERN University

In case learners wish to conduct international research and publish international articles on ISI and SCOPUS systems…learners can join PostDoc programmes according to the research fields they want to develop.

Université Libérale de Paris

Université Libérale de Paris (Paris-U) offers only higher education programs in English, which is different from the French National Curricula and Programs leading to French Government accredited university qualifications, which fall under the French Public Higher Education sector. All qualifications from Paris-U are issued by Paris-U, not by the French government.
